Life is very hard for Korean Muslims

To the Non-Muslim Koreans,,

I hope one day we can live in harmony without any doubts in our differences. & I hope
you won't judge a book by it's cover & hold us responsible for what some poor lost souls
did. Their actions were definitely unacceptable even in our religion.

Islam doesn't teach us VIOLENCE.
They don't teach us to BOMB whatever.
They don't teach us to terrorise ANYONE.
In fact. In Islam... We are only allowed to DEFEND ourselves if need be.
Other than that we are encouraged to solve misunderstandings/issues by talking it out &
solving it peacefully.

So please... don't claim we are all similar just because of skin colour or names or what
some so-called muslims do. Get the full info on what our religion teach us. not just what
some swayed people claim it does...

The first Koreans to be exposed to Islam were Korean laborers who were forcibly

relocated to Manchuria during the Japanese colonial rule. A few of them came in

contact with the Muslims in the area and adopted the religion. However, the real

evangelization of the Islamic faith took place during the Korean War when Turkish

troops were dispatched to Korea. In 1955 the Korean Islam Association was founded

to elect the nation’s first Korean imam. Then, in the 1970s, a mosque was built in

Hannam-dong, Seoul, followed by a series of mosque constructions in Busan, Daegu,

Jeonju and other local cities. As of late 2007, the Islamic population in Korea is

estimated to be around 140,000.

In South Korea, the Muslim population has been steadily increasing since the

introduction of the Islamic faith shortly after the Korean War. The Muslim

(both Korean and foreign born) community is centered around Seoul, where the first

large 20th-century mosque was built in 1976 using the funds of the Malaysian Islamic

Mission and other Islamic countries.

In addition to the 45,000 indigenous Korean Muslims, there has been a slow but

evident growth of South Asian (Bangladeshi and Pakistani), Middle Eastern

(i.e. Iranian and Iraqi) and Malaysian immigration to South Korea, the majority being

Muslims, during the 1990s and 2000s, usually arriving as guest workers to the country.

There are more than 100,000 foreign workers from Muslim countries,[1] particularly

Bangladesh and Pakistan.[2] In total, there are up to 200,000 Muslims in Korea.[3]

Travel Tips & Information
International Food
Korean Food - Guide for Muslim Visitors
Korean food is very similar to Nature. In Korea there are four seasons, as well as beautiful mountains and the majestic sea. Each season brings a variety of fresh food, and the ocean provides plentiful ingredients. If there is one common thing from the various Korean dishes, it would be the love and devotion that is put into each one, all the while considering the health of the person who will eat the food. The reason why Korean food is an international success comes from this devotion and care for others. Get this book from Korea Tourism Organization www.tour2korea.com
Korean food is very healthy. Meals are usually followed with tea and traditional cake or fruit to remove the lingering tastes in the mouth and leave one feeling fresh.
Even on a first meeting, many Koreans will share food. Koreans consider this act of sharing as a great virtue. Koreans are very friendly and sympathetic and do not part with guests without showing their affection.
